Attending the Medical Devices & Manufacturing Conference in Anaheim. Excellent insights and activities here on medical device products. Keynotes from Ray Kurzweil and Dave Zaboski were well done. They helped stimulate discussions and thoughts around the pace of change and continued need for innovation in the years ahead. Zaboski discussed his use of “plusing” to get open engagement and creativity while at Disney and Pixar. Kurzweil talked about a number of innovations ahead including 3D printing. He estimated that we will be able to print small things that can go inside of our blood cells in the 2030’s. These nanorobots will help stem off some diseases. He also talked about “Virtual Augmented Reality” will is the ability to engage without being with someone. His example of technology was to be able to “hug someone from afar.”
Aside from these key learnings and stimulations, there is a huge array of participants in medical devices and manufacturing from around the World. Northpoint is interested in learning of product branded and/or contract manufacturing companies that would like to part of a larger enterprise. This will help them provide with a sustainable future and ability to drive higher levels of innovation.
